New York, NY, NRCERB, Inc. will hold a meet and greet and a tour of the magnificent Olympic Riverbank  State Park to raise funds to support the continued work of monitoring the operation of the North River Sewage Plant located below the park along the Westside Highway and Riverside Drive.

New York, NY  NRCERB, Inc. will hold a meet and greet and a tour of the magnificent Olympic Riverbank State Park to raise funds to support the continued work of monitoring the operation of the North River Sewage Plant located below the park along the Westside Highway and Riverside Drive.

NRCERB, Inc.  aims to raise over $1,000,000.00 to enable the organization to continue to aggressively advocate for cleaner air, water, better park services and expanded opportunities for youth and seniors, as well as improve public health in the surrounding Harlem, Hamilton Heights & Washington Heights sections of Manhattan.

Harlem has one of the highest rates of asthma.  In New York City — the common chronic inflammatory disease of the airways characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, reversible airflow obstruction and spasm. Symptoms include wheezing, coughing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.

NRCERB, Inc.  is dedicated to ensuring cleaner air and water for the community by aggressively working with The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), New York State department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), New York State Park (NYSP), elected legislators together and community residents. NRCERB, Inc. holds 2 monthly, public forums, a quarterly odor, research panel and caucuses as necessary.

L. Ann Rocker is an environmentalist and the founder and president of the North River Community Environmental Review Board, Inc. (NRCERB). She holds a B.A. in sociology and psychology from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia. Anne has been a resident of Harlem, NY for 48 years. For the past 26 years her principal focus at The NRCERB is the abatement of odors and to monitor water pollutants emanating from the North River Water Pollution Control Plant located on the Hudson River. Anne’s commitment to this effort includes monthly board meetings bringing City (DEP), State (DEC), Federal (US-EPA), State Parks and elected legislators together with community residents to advocate for cleaner air, water, better parks, recreation, expanded opportunities for our youth at The River Bank State Park and improvement to public health.
